Description
High Resolution Audio at its best!
Thanks to numerous detailed improvements, the new HELIX DSP PRO MK2 raises the bar not only in terms of sound quality.
In addition to the extremely powerful 64-bit Audio DSP, native 32-bit DA and AD converters of the latest generation are used and provide unique sound characteristics thanks to their enormous signal resolution. The improved internal power supply as well as the increase of the maximum output voltage to 8 volts contribute to the optimization of the sound quality.
Other new features include the Advanced Diagnostics Error Protection (ADEP) circuit in the high-level input bypassing factory loudspeaker diagnostic systems, the “Auto Remote” switch for activating / deactivating automatic activation via the high-level inputs as well as software-controlled switching between the optical and coaxial digital inputs.
Of course, the HELIX DSP PRO MK2 offers a HELIX Extension Card slot (HEC slot) for further input and output modules such as a Bluetooth ® Audio Streaming Module or a High Resolution Audio USB Sound Card .
In terms of design, the DSP PRO MK2 comes in a HELIX-typical, clear look and offers all the prerequisites for a quick and easy integration.
But not only the hardware has been rejuvenated – the software features have also been upgraded. For example, an all-pass filter option has been implemented, the delay correction range has been significantly increased, and switchable sound characteristics have been implemented for the DA converters. Despite the immensely extended range of functions, thanks to the new DSP PC tool V4, the configuration is easy to handle and leaves nothing to be desired with its numerous sound optimization options.
One thing is for sure again: every sound-freak, who loves so much in detail, will be the target of his wishes with the DSP PRO MK2 – guaranteed!
Special features:
96 kHz sample rate
The HELIX DSP PRO MK2 offers a signal processing with a double sampling rate of 96 kHz. As a result, the audio bandwidth is not limited to 22 kHz as usual, but allows an extended frequency response up to 40 kHz. However, the higher sampling rate places significantly higher demands on the DSP itself, since the number of possible arithmetic operations is reduced to half when the sampling rate is doubled. Only the use of the very latest generation of chips makes it possible to increase the sampling rate to 96 kHz, despite the increased functionality and number of channels.
Native 32-bit resolution signal converter The HELIX DSP PRO MK2 uses the highest quality AD and DA converters of the latest generation with a native resolution of 32 bits instead of the usual 24 bits. This results in an unprecedented level of signal conversion precision, further optimizing sound at lower signal levels.
Intelligent high-level input
Modern, factory-installed car radios are becoming increasingly intelligent in terms of diagnosing the connected speakers. If a signal processor is connected to the radio instead, it usually results in error messages up to the elimination of individual functions (such as faders). The new Advanced Diagnostics Error Protection (ADEP) circuitry eliminates all of these problems without unduly stressing the radio’s speaker outputs at high levels.
Start Plugability
The PSU in the HELIX DSP PRO MK2 ensures the internal power supply even with short-term drops down to 6 volts. This ensures that the HELIX DSP PRO MK2 remains fully functional even when the engine is started.
Power save mode
The Power Save mode is activated in the basic settings of the DSP PC-Tool software. It allows to drastically reduce the power consumption of the amplifiers connected to the signal processor if there is no input signal for more than 60 seconds. It should be noted that today many vehicles are equipped with “CAN” or similar internal bus systems that leave the radio “invisible” to the user for up to 45 minutes, even if you have meanwhile left the vehicle and completed. As soon as the “Power Save Mode” is active, the remote output and thus the connected amplifiers are switched off. The HELIX DSP PRO MK2 reactivates the remote output within one second as soon as a music signal is present at one of its inputs. It is also possible
Automatic Digital Signal Detection
Switching between the analog and one of the two digital inputs is signal-controlled. As soon as an audio signal is detected at the Optical Input or Coax Input, the signal processor switches to this input. In the DSP PC-Tool software, this function can be deactivated or, alternatively, a manual control can be selected via an optionally available remote control.
